I was watching a movie the other day, and one of the characters was telling his niece that if you wait until you feel that you’re ready to start something, you could be waiting a long time.
Some people are afraid of immersing themselves in social media because they’re not sure that they’re ready. They don’t “get” it and they’re scared of the unknown.
You might try to tell me that you don’t know anything about Twitter or Facebook or blogging. So? The important thing is that you want to learn. You want to promote your business with social media. You want to build trust with customers online. You want this.
Everyone started at zero. Everyone. Brian Clark from Copyblogger. Darren Rowse from Problogger. Even people in other industries didn’t start at the top. Do you think Michael Jordan knew all the rules to basketball when he was born? I’m going to go with “no.”
Do you understand what I’m saying?
Everyone started at the beginning.
The difference between you and Brian or Darren is that they started a while ago. That’s why they’re successful online now.
If you have the desire to learn how to utilize blogging, Twitter or Facebook to increase your income, then you’re ready. That’s the only requirement needed.
The only way to fully understand social media and learn the best practices is to experience it. Immerse yourself in the platform and you’ll reap the benefits. Sure, you’ll make mistakes but you’ll learn from them.
Take the leap. And take it now. You don’t want to delay your success any longer by hesitating because you don’t think you’re ready.
